Pianist Juliana Han and violinist Wayne Lee join 23Arts Initiative for the first installment of their “Deconstructing…” series.
Han will present a lecture and performance that will educate her audience on the intricacies and nuances of Strauss' Sonata in E-flat Major, ‘deconstructing’ the sounds for audiences to hear and interpet in a new way.

Juliana Han, born in Cincinnati, Ohio, is an active collaborative pianist, chamber musician, and soloist. Ms. Han’s recent appearances include Carnegie Hall’s “The Song Continues” series, the Music Academy of the West, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, and Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival. She is currently a doctoral fellow at The Juilliard School, where her teachers include Jonathan Feldman, Margo Garrett, Andrew Harley, and Brian Zeger. She previously studied piano performance at the Manhattan School of Music with Arkady Aronov. Ms. Han also holds degrees in biochemistry and law, both from Harvard University, and has professional experience in diverse fields, including business strategy consulting, international health policy, and corporate law. She is also a co-founder and co-director of the Piedmont Chamber Music Festival, a week-long celebration of music and community whose inaugural season will be this summer in Piedmont, California.
Wayne Lee, a violinist originally from San Francisco, is an active chamber musician. Since 2012, he has been a member of the Formosa Quartet, a Taiwanese-American ensemble that has won acclaim worldwide since winning First Prize at the London International String Quartet Competition. In addition to serving as ensemble-in-residence for The Art of Élan, a San Diego arts-presenting organization, and as faculty string quartet-in-residence for the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, the members of the Formosa Quartet are founders and faculty members of the annual Formosa Chamber Music Festival in Hualien, Taiwan.
A member of the Manhattan Piano Trio since 2008, Mr. Lee has performed prolifically with the group throughout the United States as well as in Europe. They released their third album, a disc of Schumann and Chopin trios, for the Marquis Classics label in 2010. In recent years, his interest in historical performance has led to a growing duo partnership with fortepianist Mike Lee, with whom he has explored and performed music of Beethoven, Mozart, Schumann, Brahms, and Bach on early instruments. He graduated from The Juilliard School with bachelor and master of music degrees, and currently lives in New York City.
