Mozart's Spirit from Haydn's Hands

Rediscovering Mozart's piano! Violinist Wayne Lee returns to Tannersville with cellist Clancy Newman for an afternoon alongside master pianist Mike Lee. This trio will introduce audiences to the five-octave fortepiano accompanied by string duo played on traditional gut strings. Repertoire includes Haydn’s Piano Trio in E major, Hob.XV:28 (1797) and Beethoven’s Piano Trio in C minor, Op. 1 No. 3 (1793).

About the Artists: Since 2012, violinist Wayne Lee has been a member of the Formosa Quartet, a Taiwanese-American ensemble that has achieved worldwide acclaim since winning 1st Prize at the London International String Quartet Competition.

Cellist Clancy Newman is first prize winner of the prestigious Walter W. Naumburg International Competition, recipient of an Avery Fisher Career Grant, and is a member of the Chicago Chamber Musicians.

Fortepianist Mike Lee was awarded 2nd Prize and Audience Prize at the 2011 Westfield International Fortepiano Competition. Lee’s performances have been described as “portraying integrity, purity, complexity and truth...with balance and control that are breathtaking.”
