Tracing the American vocal tradition from 1860 to today, Music & Words takes audiences on a journey through spirituals, art songs, gospel and blues overlooking the stunning Kaaterskill Clove from Twilight Park. Leading this musical reflection across the ages, Sneed will be joined by rising star vocalist Shenel Johns and trumpeter Shareef Clayton in this celebratory finale performance for the 5th annual 23Arts Summer Music Festival.

About Damien Sneed:
Damien Sneed is a multi-genre recording artist and a 2014 recipient of the prestigious Sphinx Medal of Excellence honor, which is presented annually to emerging Black and Latino leaders in classical music, Sneed has also garnered attention in a wide range of other musical genres, including jazz, gospel, pop, R&B and musical theatre. He has already been featured in the New York Times multiple times for his work in various genres. A pianist, organist, conductor, composer, producer, arranger, vocal coach, professor and arts educator, Sneed has worked with legends such as Aretha Franklin, Wynton Marsalis, Jessye Norman, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Carlos Santana, Ashford & Simpson, David Sanborn, and Kenny Burrell.
