Fireworks and Pageantry: An Intro to the String Trio

  • All Souls' Church Junction of County Roads 25 and 23C Tannersville, NY 12485 (map)

The third annual 23Arts summer chamber series kicks off with this family-friendly children’s concert. Repertoire will include Handel’s Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, Vivaldi’s Four Seasons excerpts, Pachebel Canon, Eine Fleine Nachtmusik, Sheep May Safely Graze, and more. Featuring Helena Baillie (violin/viola), Maurycy Banaszek (viola) and Robert Burkhart (cello).

London-born Helena Baillie was hailed by The Strad magazine for her ”brilliance and poignance,” and stands apart for a rare ease on both violin and viola. American Record Guide praised her ‘gorgeous singing tone’ in an album that ‘from the opening flourish will be a special recital.’ She enjoys a multifaceted career as a performer and violin faculty member at the Bard College Conservatory of Music Preparatory Division.

Maurycy Banaszek joined the Concert Artist Faculty at Kean University in 2011. His festival appearances include Marlboro, Seattle, Santa Fe, Aldeburgh, Moritzburg. Founding member of the conductor-less chamber orchestra ECCO, he toured with the Musicians from Marlboro, performed with the Guarneri String Quartet and has frequently appeared at Barge Music in New York. He was recently featured as a soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico. Graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with Michael Tree.

Cellist Robert Burkhart combines a deep commitment to the existing cello repertoire with what the New Yorker magazine calls an “adventurous” spirit in new music. With performance credits at Alice Tully Hall, Bargemusic, Carnegie Weill Recital Hall, Merkin Hall, and The Rose Studio at Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Robert has also appeared as a soloist throughout Japan as a member of the New York Symphonic Ensemble, and been featured in recital on WQXR’s “Young Artist Showcase.”
